FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is birth trauma?

Birth trauma isn’t defined by how dramatic or “serious” an experience looks from the outside. It’s about how your body and nervous system experienced it. If your birth left you feeling scared, powerless, overwhelmed, or disconnected, that experience deserves care and healing.

2. What if my birth doesn’t feel “traumatic enough”?

This is one of the most common concerns I hear. Trauma isn’t a competition. If something still feels heavy, intrusive, or unresolved in your body or mind, it matters. You don’t need to justify your experience to receive support.

3. Do I have to relive my birth to heal it?

No. This work does not require reliving or re-experiencing your trauma. We focus on safety, regulation, and helping your nervous system release stored fear, without forcing you to revisit painful details unless you choose to.

4. What does hypnosis feel like?

Hypnosis is a deeply relaxed, focused state, similar to daydreaming or being absorbed in a book. You are always aware and in control. Most clients describe it as calming, grounding, and surprisingly gentle.

5. Can this help if my trauma happened years ago?

Yes. Trauma doesn’t follow a timeline. Even if your birth was many years ago, your nervous system can still hold onto those patterns. Healing is possible at any stage of motherhood.

6. Is this only for pregnant moms?

No. I work with mothers at all stages, pregnant, postpartum, or years beyond. If your birth experience still impacts how you feel in your body or in motherhood, this work can help.

7. What if I had a “successful” or medically normal birth?

A birth can go exactly according to plan medically and still feel traumatic emotionally. Trauma is about experience, not outcomes. Your feelings are valid regardless of how your birth looked on paper.

8. How many sessions do people usually need?

Every person is different. Some clients feel noticeable relief after one session, while others benefit from a short series. During your discovery call, we’ll talk about what feels supportive for you.

9. Can you help with things beyond birth trauma?

My primary focus is birth trauma, but I also work with clients experiencing anxiety, grief, loss, or other emotional challenges connected to motherhood. If you’re unsure whether this work is a fit, we can explore that together.

10. Do you work with partners or dads?

While most of my clients are mothers, I’m open to working with partners on a case-by-case basis, especially when trauma around birth or loss is involved. Dads experience birth trauma too, and can benefit from this type of work.

11. How do I get started?

The first step is a free discovery call. This is a low-pressure conversation where we talk about what you’re experiencing and whether this work feels like a good fit. You’re never obligated to move forward.
